Creating a balanced figure sculpture requires an understanding of the mechanics of the human body.

Amelia Rowcroft shares her method for sculpting a highly accurate nude standing figure, from photographic reference. The course will take you through the whole process of sculpting a figure with an emphasis on getting the anatomical structure correct at the beginning. This is essential to achieving a balanced, weighted standing figure. Amelia will show you how to use your understanding of anatomy to help decipher what you are seeing on the model.

  • Demonstration videos, downloadable notes and a full set of reference.

  • You will begin by understanding the relationship between the ribcage and the pelvis, and blocking this out in clay.

  • You will then move on to the legs, shoulders, arms and head

  • Once you have the whole figure blocked out, you can begin looking for smaller shapes, before refining and finishing your figure to a high level of finish.
